Director of Real Estate Development – REMOTE

Director of Real Estate Development – REMOTE We are looking for a detail oriented leader with a strong background in sourcing tenant relationships and overseeing tenant driven real estate development projects. The ideal candidate will have a roll up the sleeves, just get it done attitude, with experience leading highly successful real estate development teams in a fast-paced environment. They will be relationship-oriented and have a passion for real estate, meeting new people, real estate transactions and managing a motivated team. The Director of Real Estate will have a broad set of responsibilities and tasks, working closely with all aspects of the company as a high-profile member of management. What You Will Be Doing – Develop and nurture deep tenant relationships within the U.S. real estate community to drive deal volume and strategic partnerships – Assist with the development and administration of retailer targeting initiatives, including prospect selection, meeting coordination and proactive follow-up – Manage the preparation of materials for tenant meetings and proposals – Evaluate potential strategic investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other real estate related opportunities to create new investment avenues to assist the growth of the real estate portfolio – Introduce & coordinate business development opportunities for other business units within the Company when necessary – Lead the single tenant and/or redevelopment investment teams, managing the sourcing, underwriting, land acquisition, entitlements, design, construction, marketing, and transition to operations – Facilitate single tenant investment committee – Oversee and continuously improve the investment teams underwriting model to accurately predict the future operating and investment performance of potential acquisitions – Develop complete knowledge and understanding of market dynamics, demographics, competition, etc. along with strong working relationships with brokers, land owners, retail clients, government officials, etc. – Direct all functions relating to real estate site selection and land development for free standing retail build-to-suit projects. – Understand and navigate complex land use and entitlement processes – Review detailed LOIs, contracts, proformas, project development budgets and comprehensive site approval packages- Create and oversee leasing and marketing programs for all projects under redevelopment – Direct the negotiation and approval of new lease documents- Oversee all business issues in all new deals for the single tenant and/or development team; must have extensive experience in negotiating contracts – Play lead role directing company’s response to RFQs and RFPs for public-private partnership opportunities – Coordinate public private partnership activities – Meet with city officials, landlords/developers and their representatives, city and residential groups to resolve issues and challenges and overcome hurdles- Coordinate with Directors of Property/Asset Management, Acquisitions and Design & Construction on projects under development – Review and monitor monthly budget variance reports and construction draws. – Review deals with real estate managers and development project managers for approval and success – Ongoing training, evaluation and mentoring of real estate managers and real estate coordinators – Provide active management through goal setting, one-on-one meetings, quarterly and annual reviews and other forms of constructive feedback What You Need for this Position – Bachelors Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Construction, Civil Engineering or a related discipline required; advanced degree preferred7+ years of commercial retail development experience – 3+ years experience managing successful teams of real estate transaction professionals – Established track record of developing single tenant ground up retail properties for large regional and national tenants – Broad knowledge of multiple U.S. markets and comprehensive industry contact network strongly preferred – Expert knowledge of real estate finance and the development process, including project management concepts – Experience sourcing and overseeing project development teams, including brokers, lawyers, and a variety of other consultants – Operates with a mindset of delivering consistent and exceptional customer service to all internal and external clients – Developed quantitative and analytical skills – Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with groups internally and externally, including senior executives – Demonstrated resourcefulness – Excellent attention to detail- Highly motivated, innovative team player- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft CRM preferred – Willingness to travel, as needed. TEAM

Business intelligence as a discipline has evolved from the early days of big multi-month data warehousing projects to a much more agile and business-focused delivery, incorporating real-time BI, BI embedded within applications rather than as a standalone system, and self-service BI. This team has adopted all of these approaches for specific problems, and this role will be heavily focused on Tabular models delivered directly over source system data, standardising calculations to support developing data extracts using Excel, building print-ready reports using SSRS, creating interactive data visualisations using PowerBI, and also working with a custom visualisation framework built on top of D3.js to deliver bespoke solutions and visualisations not achievable using the traditional tools.

The current team in NYC is a group of 2 highly experienced and talented engineers (20+yrs), and this position, third senior team member, holds responsibility for several critical Data, BI, Analytics/Reporting and Visualisation projects and business stakeholders across the firm.

SKILLS

Working with large and complex data sets
Proven design, delivery and deployment experience of end to end projects/solutions
Experience in the Microsoft BI stack – SQL Server (2008R2-2016), Analysis Services/Tabular Models, PowerBI desktop and Reporting Services is essential.
Some software engineering experience/skills are very desirable, ideally C# .NET
Report design and development, with a focus on user experience and style
Exceptional SQL and data analysis skills, with the ability to transform data to feed models without an ETL layer, is essential. Experience with ETL and data integration approaches is still helpful, and data federation and non-traditional data integration approaches would be a plus.
