The Senior Manager, Compliance Policy and Standards will lead the Company’s efforts to develop and operationalize Compliance policies across the global organization to ensure business activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. This professional will offer strategic input and perspective to the Compliance Leadership Team and other members of the Compliance organization and work closely with colleagues within Legal and across other functions to address potential compliance-related issues. This professional will contribute to Stryker’s culture of integrity and support the Company’s mission and values.
This professional may work remotely.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead the design, development, and implementation of Compliance policies and standards at a company-wide level, in partnership with legal and compliance colleagues and relevant business functions.Drive global consistency in our approach to Compliance-related policies and ensure global principles and best practices are shared and adopted across geographies and functions.Assess and maintain the company’s global Compliance policies, addressing any gaps.Lead the company’s approach to regional and local policies with an eye towards promoting efficiency and consistency while allowing for appropriate local flexibility.Develop a framework and guidance for promulgating, updating, and operationalizing policies.Provide strategic input on modifications to the compliance program to reflect changes, clarifications, or updates in applicable law, regulations, policy, and business strategy.Develops and maintains deep knowledge regarding applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards; applies knowledge to drive continuous improvement of Compliance policies. Works collaboratively across the department and with other groups within the company responsible for policies and standards.Partners closely with Compliance Education and Communication colleagues to ensure appropriate holistic approach to policies, education, and communication.Drives innovation to increase accessibility to Compliance policies and standards and supports company efforts to implement a policy platform. Consistently analyze processes, track best practices, and provide recommendations and insight to increase efficiency and effectiveness of processes, systems, and technology.Identify, select, and manage external vendor relationships as needed.Exercise independent judgment to make decisions of significant impact to the company.Develop strong relationships throughout multiple businesses and regions to foster a consistent and collaborative approach to proactive compliance.Establish a strong tone at the top and further the department’s strategic priorities. Demonstrate well-developed ability to identify issues, engage appropriate stakeholders, complete root cause analysis, and assess effectiveness of solution within area of responsibility.Effectively inspire, educate, and empower others across multiple businesses and functions.Raise awareness of the compliance program and promote accountability for ethics and integrity.Foster a continuous improvement mindset and proposes enhancements to the program informed by industry trends and best practices.Participate in industry associations and engagements to raise the profile of the Compliance program and the company.Education:B.A. or B.S from accredited university required.Graduate degree and/or professional accreditation preferred.
Qualifications and Experience:Minimum of 10+ years of work experience required; previous compliance leadership required.Demonstrates knowledge and clear understanding of the required elements of effective Compliance programs and experience with AdvaMed code and other relevant standards. Demonstrates expertise in applying external requirements to key activities and processes.Demonstrates experience developing and leading large-scale, global initiatives.Possesses excellent leadership and influencing skills.Demonstrates high level of professionalism and executive presence. Perceived as highly competent with high level of business acumen and good judgment.Able to initiate, embrace and support change in a dynamic and complex environment.Oversees complex diverse work of significant impact to the organization.Well-developed ability to show discretion and maintain confidentiality. Well-developed understanding of business financials and reporting and ability to effectively allocate resources for maximum impact. Demonstrates excellent communication and leadership skills.Knowledge and experience in building team effectiveness. Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
